Every Moment Counts!

What a fantastic week we have had at Henderson Green Primary. It is hard to believe that we are at the end of the fifth week of term - the time has certainly flown by! The children are continuing to make fantastic choices and embracing their new curriculum with great enthusiasm and focus. This week, we have been looking closer at Science and the fantastic investigations the children have took part in.

It is so lovely to see the children visiting the school library and immersing themselves into reading for pleasure opportunities. Don't forget to record those reads, in reading records for rewards!

Behaviour

We are continuing to work on our new school moto:

Be Ready, Be Respectful and Be Safe.

Teachers and Teaching Staff are continuing to hand out lots of house points, stickers and positive praise this week for children showcasing this focus. Our Playground Pals, have also been awarding children who have shown these qualities during breaktime and lunchtimes.

Once again, we awarded lots of certificates today in Celebration Assembly today for right choices and amazing work! Well done to everyone!

Let's Celebrate Attendance

Our whole school attendance this week was 95.3%. In first place is Year 4 with 99%, second place is Year 1 with 98.3% and in third place was Year 6 with 96.3%. Children at the end of term with 100% attendance will be awarded with a certificate and invited to afternoon tea. This will reset at the beginning of every half term.

Looking Smart

The children are continuing to come into school looking incredibly smart. Polite reminder children in Year 2 and above need to be wearing their school tie and jumpers need to be uniformed.

A full list of the uniform is on our website. http://www.hendersongreenprimary.co.uk/uniform

Reminder we are now entering the colder, wetter months, so please send your child into school with a waterproof coat.

EYFS/KS1 Reading Sessions

Polite reminder: To promote reading for pleasure Reception, Year 1 and 2 are still inviting parents in every Monday for the rest of this half term at 2:45pm to attend our daily story time session. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to come and see some of the lovely stories we have in school and for you to spend some quality reading time with your child. Thank you to those parents who have been regularly attending. We have some super stories to share with you all, we look forward to seeing you there.

Playground Leaders

This week, the children were joined by Mrs Marrison, who is the P.E co-ordinator at Heartsease Academy. She came in to train selected children in Years 5/6 to become Playground Leaders, upskilling the previous training that had already been given. This was a great opportunity for the children to gain some leadership skills and equally exciting for the rest of the children as now we have additional games to play during break and lunchtimes. This has been really popular and we look forward to this evolving over the next few terms.
